The Town of Sharon, along with 29 neighboring towns, belongs to the regional planning agency known as Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Planning Commission (“TRORC”).  Every year the Selectboard appoints a representative to the TRORC board of regional commissioners.  The TRORC provides technical assistance to its member towns on a wide range of planning activities which can,  ultimately, impact quality of life in the region.

The regional plan is a policy statement on future growth and development of the region, and it contains permissive and prescriptive goals.  While it is required to conform with state land use goals (24 VSA Sec. 4302), the regional plan is supposed to reflect regional values and a vision for regional growth and management of resources over the next eight years.  The regional plan will be considered for adoption upon favorable vote of 60% of regional commissioners after public hearings are held.

TRORC has announced a public hearing schedule on proposed revisions to the regional plan as follows:

Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 6:00PM in Damon Hall, 1 Quechee Road, Hartland

Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 6:00PM in Royalton Town Offices, 2460 VT Route 14, South Royalton, VT
